Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)

LIEAP assists eligible low-income households with the cost of home heating through direct cash payments or payments to utility companies on their behalf. A crisis component is also available for households without resources facing the loss of a heating source. The program operates for a short time each winter through WV Department of Human Services field offices and contracted community agencies.

- Eligibility is based on income, type of heating payment, and total heating costs. FY2027 monthly income limits range from $2,550 (1-person household) to $8,385 (10-person household), plus $710 for each additional person. Some types of income may be excluded.
