Multifamily Building Efficiency Grants Program
Washington — state program$10 million (2026 Supplemental Budget allocation)
Provides grants to affordable multifamily buildings funded by Commerce's Housing Trust Fund Program to decarbonize and replace fossil fuels with high-efficiency electric equipment. Eligible projects include energy management and planning activities, decarbonization and energy retrofits (e.g., heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, induction cooking), building envelope improvements, renewable energy systems, and more.

- Eligibility
- Existing affordable multifamily housing buildings that received funding from Commerce's Housing Trust Fund, are in compliance with affordability requirements, and intend to maintain the affordability of the building. Priority given to buildings in service at least 15 years, using fossil fuels as primary fuel source, and/or located in a census tract identified as disadvantaged by the WA Office of Financial Management's Overburdened Communities Mapping Tool or ranked 9 or 10 by the WA Department of Health's Environmental Health Disparities Map.
