NJ Cool Program

New Jersey — state programGrant awards will cover 50% of eligible project costs up to a maximum award of $1,000,000 per project (with a minimum award amount of $50,000 per project)
A $30 million pilot program administered by the NJEDA that provides grant awards to commercial, industrial, and institutional building owners and tenants undertaking retrofit construction projects that reduce operating greenhouse gas emissions from existing buildings in State-designated Overburdened Community and Adjacent Community census blocks. Grants reimburse eligible hard construction costs for upgrading heating/cooling systems to less polluting alternatives, energy efficiency measures, and on-site renewables.

Commercial, industrial, or institutional building owner OR a commercial, industrial, or institutional tenant with landlord/building owner approval; must have a valid NJ tax clearance certificate no older than 180 days at time of application approval; must be in good standing with NJ DOL and NJ DEP; must demonstrate proof of funding/financing for estimated project costs plus 15% contingency. Building must be an existing building located in an NJ Environmental Justice Law designated Overburdened Community or Adjacent Community census block, or in Newark, Edison, or Atlantic City, and meet specif
