NJ Cool - Building Retrofit Grant

Provides grants to commercial, industrial, or institutional building owners or tenants in New Jersey to fund building retrofits that reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency, primarily by switching heating loads from fossil fuel systems to non-combustion alternatives and/or replacing high-GWP refrigerants. Grants cover up to 50% of eligible project costs, with a minimum award of $50,000 and a maximum of $1,000,000 per project.

Commercial, industrial, or institutional building owner OR a commercial, industrial, or institutional tenant with landlord/building owner approval; must have a valid NJ tax clearance certificate no older than 180 days at time of application approval; must be in good standing with NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development and NJ Department of Environmental Protection; must demonstrate proof of funding for estimated project costs plus 15% contingency.
