Farm Opportunity Loan Program

A loan participation program administered through the Rural Finance Authority (RFA) designed to finance the purchase of equipment to add value to crops or livestock or increase on-farm energy production. Farmers work through their local lender, who then applies for RFA participation. Eligible uses do not include seed, fertilizer, fuel, other operating expenses, or refinancing of existing debt.

Must be a resident of Minnesota or a general partnership, family farm corporation, authorized farm corporation, family farm partnership, or authorized farm partnership as defined in section 500.24, subdivision 2; must be the principal operator of the farm; must demonstrate an ability to repay the loan; must hold an appropriate feedlot registration or be using the loan to meet registration requirements
