Maine Community Energy Redevelopment Program (MECERP)

MECERP, led by the Maine Department of Energy Resources (DOER) and the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), provides high-quality technical assistance to communities to develop detailed action plans for projects that unlock community energy assets for economic development. It supports redevelopment of underutilized or legacy electricity infrastructure sites, including brownfield and former industrial sites, to create family-sustaining jobs and advance clean energy goals. The program does not fund project construction or development directly.

- Communities in Maine with projects at current or former industrial sites where underutilized electricity infrastructure exists (i.e., available electrical capacity on transmission or distribution lines). Projects must demonstrate potential to advance Maine's economic development, clean energy, and climate goals.
