Rebates to purchase or lease (36-month minimum) new, pre-owned, or repowered battery EVs by vehicle class: light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks and cars (Class 1-8), school buses (Type C/D), and transit buses (35-60 ft). Two pathways: Point-of-Sale (dealer-applied voucher) and Post-Purchase (apply within 60 days of delivery). 2026 base amounts run $7,500 (Class 3) to $130,000 (school bus Type D); LIC/EIEC community tier runs up to $240,000. Program targets distributing 81M dollars in rebates through 2028.

- MAY 2026 DEALER UPDATES (eff 5/20/2026): (1) VIN tracker now required before any POS rebate - one rebate per VIN across BE Plan 1 (2/15/24-12/31/25) and BE Plan 2 (1/1/26-12/31/28); dealers must check VIN in Dealer Network Portal. (2) HEAVY-DUTY Class 7-8 funding FULLY RESERVED - new POS and post-purchase apps now WAITLISTED, not guaranteed. (3) Post-purchase now requires permanent IL registration plus license-plate photo plus IL SOS VIN verification (apps.ilsos.gov/regstatus); no temp/TRP plates. (4) POST-PURCHASE for Class 1-3 CLOSES 6/7/2026 - POS pathway stays open for Class 1-3. Still funded: light/medium-duty, transit, school buses. Dealer support: ComEdEVDealer@icf.com.
