A federal tax credit for eligible homeowners (and renters for certain expenditures) for purchases of qualifying clean energy products including solar panels for electricity, home backup power battery storage (capacity greater than 3 kWh), and solar water heating products. The deadline has been significantly altered by the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB), generally terminating for expenditures made or property placed in service after December 31, 2025.
