Under Section 40101(d) Formula Grant Program of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the U.S. Department of Energy provided grants to states and Indian Tribes to improve the resilience of their electric grids. Georgia, through GEFA, further allocates these funds to eligible entities such as electric grid operators, electricity storage operators, electricity generators, transmission owners or operators, distribution providers, and fuel suppliers. Eligible resilience measures include weatherization technologies, fire-resistant systems, monitoring and control technologies, undergrounding electrical equipment, microgrids, battery-storage subcomponents, and hardening of power lines and facilities.
