Under Section 40101(d) Formula Grant Program of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the U.S. Department of Energy provided grants to states and Indian Tribes to improve the resilience of their electric grids. Georgia, through GEFA, further allocates funds to eligible entities such as electric grid operators, electricity storage operators, electricity generators, transmission owners or operators, distribution providers, and fuel suppliers. Funds support resilience measures including weatherization technologies, fire-resistant systems, monitoring and control technologies, undergrounding equipment, vegetation management, microgrids, battery storage, and hardening of power infrastructure.
